DataMentors included in Gartner's Data Quality Tool Magic Quadrant

Gartner picks DataMentors third consecutive year

TAMPA, FL – June 1, 2009 – DataMentors, the industry-leading full-service data quality and management solutions company, announces its inclusion in the June 2009 Gartner "Data Quality Tools Magic Quadrant" report.

For vendors to be included in the Magic Quadrant, they must meet specific criteria including: offer stand-alone packaged tools positioned, marketed and sold specifically for data quality applications; deliver functionality that addresses, at minimum, profiling, parsing, standardization, cleansing and matching;  support this data functionality in more than one language; maintain an installed base of at least 50 production customers for their data quality products; and demonstrate, via customer references, the use of the tools at an enterprise (cross-departmental or multi-application) level.

DataMentors’ president, Bob Orf, said the explosive amount of data growth currently being experienced is causing IT executives to use data quality beyond just an accuracy tool.  Data quality is now being leveraged to manage data storage amounts. “If a company can reduce their database’s size by twenty percent or more through the elimination of bad data, they will greatly increase data management functionality, information accuracy and realize greater ROI in the long-term,” said Orf.

Technological advancements are occurring at an ever-increase pace, causing data volumes to continue to grow exponentially on a near annual basis.  Industry experts estimate a zettabyte (1,0007) of data will be reached sometime in 2010.  As physical storage practices struggle to keep up with the data surge, DataMentors sees the demand for data accuracy, as a tool for managing data storage, also dramatically increasing.

"We're delighted Gartner included DataMentors, for a third consecutive year, in its Magic Quadrant.  Enhancements to our existing core competencies and new product introductions on our release roadmap, should help advance DataMentors’ position in the Gartner Magic Quadrant over the coming years," said Gordon Daly, DataMentors Director of Marketing.
